She was born on 29 March 1985 in Roswell New Mexico. Gerina Michel Mendoza was her name at birth. Gerina Stevenson has Mexican parents Rita Stevenson (mother) and Alan Stevenson (father). She is American and is of Mexican American heritage. She has always been a fan of sports. Gerina took up golf when she reached the age of 15. Gerina graduated from Goddard High School. When she was a student in high school she won the New Mexico Golf State Tournament. She was also a volleyball player who competed at the state level. She attended an institution called the University of Texas in 2003. In her senior year she was the winner of every competition she competed in. During her college career she was awarded an award called the Conference USA Player of The Year award and the UTEP Female Sports Athlete Award.
