She was born March 29th 1985. She was born in Roswell New Mexico. Gerina Michelle Mendoza was her birth name. Gerina Stevenson was born in Mexico in the family of Mexican parents Alan Stevenson and Rita Stevenson. She has Mexican roots, yet is American in nationality. From a young age, her desire to be active in sports was strong. Gerina began golfing when she was the age of 15. Gerina was a student at Goddard High School. When she was in high school, she took home her first prize in the New Mexico state golf tournament. In addition, she was a volleyball player who competed at the state level. She began attending the University of Texas. In her senior year, she won each tournament in which she played in. While in her university career, she was named Conference USA individual champion player of the year as well as UTEP Female Athlete of the Year.
