She was born in Roswell on the 29th of March 1985. Gerina Michel Mendoza is her birth name. Gerina Stevenson is the daughter of Mexican parents Rita Stevenson (mother) and Alan Stevenson (father). Stevenson is of Mexican heritage, but is American in nationality. From the time she was a kid, she's always had a strong desire to participate in sports. Gerina played golf for the first time at age 15. Gerina was a student at Goddard High School. When she was in high school, she won the New Mexico state golf tournament. She was a volleyball player and also competed in state competitions. She was enrolled at Texas's University of Texas, Texas during the 2003 academic year. Through the latter period of her career she had won every tournament that she participated in. In her undergraduate years she won the titles that included Conference USA Female Athlete and Conference USA Individual Player of the Years.
